Cave Art

Cave art originated in the caves and rock shelters due to the needs of our nomadic ancestors. They felt compelled to create art to allay the physical hardships of their existence. They invented and refined their techniques to create and preserve their images on the sheltered walls of caves. As their art evolved it also answered to a spiritual need to identify with forces sensed yet unseen. We have the beginning of art as ritual. Human visual culture now strode alongside physical need.
